The Old Violin
This painting was inspired by a story:
An auctioneer tried desperately to increase the value of a violin in an old dilapidated violin case. The case looked shabby and the lid was fastened with bits of string. The violin was full of dust and the bid could not reach five dollars. Still the auctioneer tried his best but to no avail.
Suddenly an old man man from the crowd stood up and walked to the front and inspected the violin. He blew the dust off and started tuning the strings. The bow was cleaned and tightened. The old man placed the violin under his chin and started playing.
The hustle and bustle of the crowd suddenly became deathly still.
They heard the most beautiful music coming out of that old violin.
The old man played and the people could not believe their ears. This old man was a master and the sound of the violin was superb.
When the old man stopped playing there was an uproar of applause!
When the auctioneer started the auction again, the bid jumped to thousand of dollars.
This analogy of the story was: Even if you feel old and worthless, your life can suddenly have meaning again when a master comes into your life. That is when God comes into your life.
Years later, it was heard from a friend that this story was true, and the old man was none other than a famous violinist of his time, Fritz Kreisler
